Abstract

This research seeks to analyze non-traditional forms of film creation, editing, and consumption to present two concepts: "appcinema" and "repertorial spectatorship." Cinematic art has reconfigured itself over the decades, developing technologies and immersing itself in technological issues that have transformed its language, its media, and, essentially, its medium. We argue that the editing of "Eva.Stories" on Instagram can be classified as "appcinema," requiring a "repertorial spectatorship" capable of understanding the implications of Holocaust images. The choice of "Eva Stories" for our analysis was inspired by João Paulo Cunha's doctoral thesis. This study explains the trajectory of new narratives constructed through computer or mobile device applications where images are presented entirely digitally and online—forms that deconstruct traditional ways of thinking and making cinema.
