Abstract

The unknown Computer Teacher Training course completed in 2022, 25 years of existence. This article is a clipping of a doctoral research. In this section, the methodology used is a qualitative approach, presenting a documentary research about the Computer Teacher Training course. Our objectives in this article were: to understand the historical context of Brazil in relation to the area of Computing until the emergence of the Computer Teacher Training course, to know some specific characteristics of the course, such as objectives, profile of the egress, skills and competences and to analyze the offers of the Computer Teacher Training course based on the Census of Higher Education. As a result of this research, it was possible to understand the needs at that moment that led to the creation of the course, in addition to some characteristics of this teacher's professional training. Regarding the offer of the course, according to the Census of Higher Education, a significant decrease in the number of institutions was noticeable in our analysis, prevailing the offer of the course in Public Higher Education Institutions and in the face-to-face modality.
