Abstract

In a context marked by manipulations, denialism and continuous attacks on science, the issue of ethics, responsibility in research and the intellectual honesty of researchers increases in importance. In this sense, this bibliographical article addresses the topic of ethics and responsibility in scientific research, focusing on the issue of intellectual honesty. The guiding issue for our reflections asks to what extent does intellectual honesty impact the processes and results related to scientific research and more specifically in the educational area and its consequences in society? Thus, the objective of this study is to problematize the issue of ethics and responsibility in scientific research and more specifically in the educational field, considering the impacts of intellectual honesty and its social consequences. The methodological perspective adopted is that of hermeneutics and the theoretical contributions mainly consider the contributions of contemporary thinkers who address the ethical issue and its social implications. The results indicate that intellectual honesty and commitment to the world are fundamental in scientific work so that solutions can be proposed for real problems that society demands with a view to promoting a better world for everyone and not just for a select few.
