Abstract

This paper aims to reveal the perception of the chief of the Sateré-Mawé ethnic group about the implementation of indigenous school education for children in his village. The investigation allows us to reflect and understand concepts such as ethnoeducation, colonization and decolonization, as it shows the solitary struggle of the indigenous leader in search of the rights to differentiated education. The field research occurred within the Nossa Senhora Aparecida indigenous village, on the banks of the Mamuru River, in the municipality of Juruti - PA, on the border with the State of Amazonas. Data collection occurred by listening to the Oral History of the morubixaba and from field trips. In his significant speeches, Tuissá sees the school as a field of decolonization of thought and a niche for the reforestation of his culture. For this to be effective, it is necessary to guarantee the execution of the ethnoeducational right to its people to reforest the minds and hearts of their indigenous brothers who suffered from banishment and subjection to the culture of their ancestors.
