The place of School Management in promoting anti-racist education

The aim of this research was to analyze the role of School Management in the process of promoting anti-racist education according to the Curricular Guidelines for Education on Ethnic-Racial Relations and for the Teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture. To this end, we used a qualitative approach and developed documentary research whose analysis was carried out using elements of the Content Analysis technique. As main results, we found that the role of School Management, according to the document analyzed, is to position itself critically against ethnic-racial discrimination, assuming the management and coordination of teaching moments that consider content, study units, preparation of teaching materials, programs and projects aimed at Education on Ethnic-Racial Relations in different areas of knowledge. Furthermore, it is a place that must be responsible for ensuring that studies on the subject are addressed in the school's institutional documents, but also for planning and offering ongoing training for teachers, aiming to implement Law 10.639/2003, and for promoting anti-racist education from the perspective of democratic management.
