An overview of dialogue in the classroom

Abstract

The current study presents a systematic review that aimed at identifying how current publications have approached experiences of dialogue between teacher and students in elementary school classrooms. The search was done in scientific journals data banks: ProQuest, Scielo Virtual Library, and Capes. The search identified 441 relevant publications, among which 13 met the inclusion criteria. Results pointed out that articles outlined the role of dialogue as important in students’ learning and development and most of them also outlined the teachers’ meditation role in establishing a dialogic relationship in the classroom. However, there was a lack of in-depth theoretical discussions about the dialogue experiences in the classroom.
