Impacts and results of the National Teacher Training Program (PARFOR) in the Amapá Amazon

Abstract

In this article, we analyze PARFOR as a public policy for teacher training and its implications in the Amazonian context, especially in the state of Amapá. Our aim is to find out how the program was implemented in the state of Amapá between 2009 and 2022, and also to see how the Amapá State University has contributed to teacher training in this Brazilian state. To this end, we drew on theorists who discuss PARFOR as a large-scale training policy that is designed according to the region in which it operates. The research was carried out using a qualitative approach, through bibliographical and documentary research. The results show that PARFOR makes a quantitative contribution to teacher certification in Amapá, and that the Amapá State University makes a significant contribution to the data obtained.
