The path in Secondary Education is designed to be an important element in the outlook for those who wish to continue to Higher Education. Our goal is to analyze the factors that permeated Secondary Education in the Military School in Manaus and how they contributed to its graduates accessing Higher Education. The methodological focus is quantitative-qualitative and we used a closed questionnaire and semi-structured interview in the data collection. The results showed that 85.7% of the graduates who participated in this research entered college, and, of these, 83.3% entered public institutions. Only 10.2% of the Higher Education freshmen were first generation, and 48.7% of them majored in programs such as Law, Engineering and Medicine. With the qualitative analysis, we observed that academic preparation is the most relevant factor in accessing Higher Education, while extracurricular activities contributed to the choice of college major. Norms, interactions and family context are contributors to the academic performance of these graduates in Higher Education.
